What does Flexion Hinge mean? Along with the times, many technology companies in the world have created and released phones with flexible screens.
Cell phones with foldable screens make them hybrid as they can be phones and tablets at the same time to make their dimensions more compact.
This also makes users practical in using it as needed. Nowadays, foldable phones usually allow them to be in phone mode for short needs and at the same time can be converted to tablet mode by extending the screen to get a wider viewing area.
Following this trend, OPPO also presented its first hybrid device called Find N back in 2021 which uses a foldable screen on the inside and a secondary screen on the outside (cover).
In order to provide a flexible screen that can be folded and unfolded, OPPO embedded a hinge called Flexion Hinge by joining 136 components with precision down to 0.01 mm. OPPO claims that the Flexion Hinge can move smoothly like the movement of joints in the human body.
The Flexion Hinge comes with a design that forms a waterdrop when the screen is folded, widening the fold angle of the screen to produce a screen curve that is up to 80% less visible than other devices (according to TUV Rheinland).
You could say that the Flexion Hinge on the OPPO Find N serves as a buffer when the screen is folded. The hinge design also eliminates the gap between the screens when folded, offering a more integrated view and protecting the inner screen from scratches.
The gear and spring structure of the Flexion Hinge allows the OPPO Find N to stand upright when the screen is unfolded at an angle between 50-120 degrees. Equipped with software designed specifically for foldable screen phones, the OPPO Find N’s FlexForm mode gives users the flexibility to use it in various scenarios.
Continuing its innovation, OPPO is also bringing a slimmer folding screen phone in late 2022 called OPPO Find N2 Flip which comes with the support of New Generation Flexion Hinge.
Compared to the previous generation, the New Generation Flexion Hinge has improved the ability to make the screen fold until it is almost invisible even if the user opens and closes the screen continuously.
The New Generation Flexion Hinge will make the screen fold into a waterdrop shape so as to provide space for the screen to fold less when the device is closed so that the effect on the screen fold will not be visible to the naked eye when the main screen is unfolded.
Based on information from OPPO, the New Generation Flexion Hinge is able to provide a fold depth of 0.11 mm and 1.29o which is claimed to be smaller than other foldable phones with U-shaped hinge construction that has a fold depth of 0.22 mm and 4.22o. This makes the OPPO Find N2 Flip more compact than other foldable phones when closed.
While the New Generation Flexion Hinge makes the screen crease of the Find N2 Flip almost invisible in everyday use, the U-shaped hinge construction often makes the screen crease visible when the screen is bent continuously.
OPPO Find N2 Flip has also been certified by TUV Rheinland after passing 400,000 folding tests, equivalent to ten years of use. This shows that the hinge on this device is strong and durable.
Thanks to this hinge, the OPPO Find N2 Flip also has a FlexForm mode that can provide interesting angle options when users want to take photos, record videos, view information, or enjoy entertainment content.
You could say that the New Generation Flexion Hinge is one of the spearheads that makes the Find N2 Flip phone able to have a main screen that is almost invisible for a folding phone.
